Since I was up I did a short practice in my room to stretch out after the long flights and then waited for my roommate to come back from practice so we could go to breakfast.
Breakfast was fruit and granola at a cute cafe called Santosha. We saw a small boy get knocked over by a rather mean looking German Shepard while walking to the cafe.
We also saw the cow with a shell necklace.
Chanting class began on Monday. Even though I was not registered yet I went anyway. It is a call and response class I have no idea of what most of the chants are about but it was fun. Chanting class is three days a week, m/w/f.
In the afternoon I was finally able to register. I paid my 27850 rupees to Sharath and was given a 6:45am start time for Mysore classes and 6am for led classes. No bad! 6:45 here is considered sleeping in! My flatmate starts at 4:30.
Sanskrit and Gita class is M/W/F afternoons for 2 hours. We learned to say and write 15 vowels the first day. I prayed the teacher wouldn't call on me, he didn't but he seemed to remember names very quickly, there were about 20 students.
Dinner was at a place called Tina's. I had roti and chickpea and a cup of tea for 55 rupees, that's about $1.25.
On the walk to Tina's we passed a chip maker. He fries potato chips on the sidewalk. He gave us a sample. They were so good. I went back the next day to buy some but he wasn't open yet so I settled for chocolate.
Our third roommate, Edwin from the Netherdalands, moved out after only one day. He found a cheaper place and since he will be in Mysore for 6 months it will save him a few hundred dollars.
We had a power outage. It only lasted about 3 minutes.
Here is a sample of my notes from Sanskrit class
